Wounded Dog Bored of Running, Digging Deeply, Holding Hands Before Thunderstorms
She was tired of running. Even when she caught a whiff of his hand, she hesitated and retreated. The sky was getting darker, but the man didn't give up.
A coming storm can often mean life or death for a homeless animal. As the sky grew darker, a dog who had been on her own had nowhere to go. She searched for a safe place to wait out the storm, but couldn't find one. She ran back and forth, obviously scared of what was to come.
An animal rescuer spotted the pup near the roadside, but she kept on running away. She had reason to fear humans...not all humans are kind.
The skies began to rumble, and the rescuer finally managed to get a bit closer. The sweet dog stood at a distance, eyeing the person. She was so tired of running.
With patience and persistence, the person reached out his hand and the puppy slowly came closer. She stayed low to the ground, tail wagging, but still apprehensive.
She summoned the courage to let the kind man pet her. But it took all she had.
The sweet pup allowed her new human friend to pick her up and take her to his vehicle. She sat in the front seat and looked over at him as if to say thank you.
She knew she was safe and warm just as the skies opened up and the storm hit. It was now time to take this sweet girl to her new foster home!
She had her first real meal and couldn't have been happier. She ate heartily and then curled up for a nap. Then it was time for a bath.
EEEK! She was covered in fleas. It was hard to see them before. The little pup didn't love the bath, but she seemed to understand it was necessary.
Her new foster mom named the sweet dog Lucy. She wrapped her up and kept her warm. It was at that moment Lucy seemed to realize she was actually loved.
As her fur dried, her foster mom noticed a wound on her neck. This is a common sight when a dog has been chained up for too long.
It's likely Lucy was kept outside on a chain and then abandoned when her owner just didn't care anymore.
Lucy is now having the time of her life as she gets healthier and waits for a permanent home. She has become best friends with another pup named Mini. She protects Mini from one of her foster mom's playful cats.
We are thrilled that Lucy is safe and sound and will never have to be on her own again! For information on Lucy and other dogs available for adoption, click here!
Let's share Lucy's story so she finds her forever home.
Lucy's foster mom continued to care for her, and as she grew stronger and healthier, Lucy's personality began to shine through. She was playful, affectionate, and always up for a good snuggle. Her foster mom knew that she would make the perfect companion for someone.
Finally, the day came when Lucy's forever family found her. They had seen her story online and fell in love with her sweet face and loving personality. They immediately knew that she was the perfect addition to their family.
Lucy's new family showered her with love and affection, and she quickly settled into her new home. She had plenty of space to run and play, and she was always surrounded by people who adored her.
As Lucy continued to grow and thrive, she never forgot where she came from. She would often snuggle up to her new family and give them a look that seemed to say "thank you" for rescuing her.
Lucy's story is a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope. With patience, love, and care, animals can overcome even the toughest of challenges and go on to lead happy, healthy lives.
