Sad Shelter Dog Thinks It’s Another Lonely Day, Didn’t Know His ‘New Mom’ Was Standing Outside

Dave, a sweet, gentle 5-year-old canine, was found tied up inside an abandoned house during an investigation. He was immediately taken into the care of the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby (HSM&S). Right from the beginning, Dave's calm nature and steadfast loyalty made him a favorite amongst the shelter staff. Despite his charming personality and endearing demeanor, Dave sadly found himself passed over by potential adopters for seven long months.

Meanwhile, Morgan and Tyler, a newly married couple, were dealing with the grief of losing Morgan's 13-year-old dog and were considering bringing a new furry family member into their lives. They decided to give a second chance to a shelter dog and took the drive to HSM&S. That's when fate intervened, and they crossed paths with Dave.

Seeing Dave for the first time, it was an immediate connection – love at first sight, one might say. When Morgan received the call that they could adopt Dave, she was overcome with joy, barely managing to hold back her tears of happiness. Since his very first night at his new home, Sammy formed an unbreakable bond with his new family. Morgan shared, "If my husband or I get up to grab some water or leave the room for a second, he follows us to make sure we aren't leaving."
