Dogs abandoned at a shelter were so terrified that they wouldn't let go of each other. Then came the rescuers
This month, two pups were abandoned in a Texas death shelter. Apollo and Adonis were best buddies who would never be parted. Cindy Droogmans, the manager of A-Team Elite Rescue Dogs, fell in love with them and got them examined by a veterinarian in Huntington, New York.
The two dogs were heartworm-tested and it was discovered that they would not leave each other's side, even at the vet facility. They crowded together, terrified, and sought to comfort one another.
It can be difficult to find a home for a bonded couple of dogs, but Jennifer and her husband decided to file for adoption after viewing a video on social media. They were delighted to receive the news that they had been accepted.
Jennifer and her husband have four acres of property and two rescue dogs, and they wanted to grow their family. Adonis ran when they arrived at their new house, but he was eventually captured and safely returned home.
Adonis is now settling in with his new family, and the mated dog couple is enjoying their new permanent home.
But as they arrived at the airport, things didn't go as planned. The airline informed them that their beloved dog was too large to fly in the cabin and would have to be placed in cargo. The couple was devastated, knowing the risks involved with transporting a pet in cargo.
However, the airline staff went above and beyond to make sure the dog was safe and comfortable. They provided a larger crate, added extra padding and blankets, and even offered to monitor the dog's well-being during the flight.
Despite their concerns, the couple decided to trust the airline and allow their dog to fly in cargo. They said their tearful goodbyes and watched as their furry friend was loaded onto the plane.
Hours later, the couple arrived at their destination and rushed to the baggage claim area, hoping to see their dog safe and sound. But their hearts sank when they didn't see their dog's crate among the other luggage.
Panicked, they immediately went to the airline's customer service desk. But to their surprise, they were greeted by their furry friend, wagging his tail and barking with joy.
The airline staff explained that due to the dog's large size, they had to transport him separately from the other luggage. They even provided photos and videos of the dog's journey to ease the couple's concerns.
Overwhelmed with gratitude, the couple thanked the airline staff for going above and beyond to ensure their dog's safety and comfort during the flight. They never expected such exceptional service and were relieved to be reunited with their furry friend.
This heartwarming story shows that even in difficult situations, there are people who will go out of their way to help others, including our furry companions.
